Welcome to the LEDA Traitbase
A database on the life history of the Northwest European flora
If you want to query the database ...
- first, refer to the data standards. All traits
are described in detail, including current limitations of the LEDA
traitbase.
- second, choose the applications you want to
use.
- third, please make yourself with the
abbreviations used in the query tool.
The species fact sheet accepts a species name as input and returns
a web page containing a single aggregated value for each trait
of the selected species. As an example for a GIS link,
the German plant atlas FloraWeb is
accessible from within a species fact sheet. This allows access to
further trait data, species distribution data and related
information.
The web query tool allows to query the Traitbase at the raw data level
or at various aggregation levels. If you ignore the implications and
limitations that come along with a certain aggregation level, your
query will probably generate misleading
results.
You can select individual species or merge trait data with your own
species list.
The data mining tool allows to perform statistical analysis of LEDA
data using methods of machine learning. It is not yet publicly
available online.
The data import application allows to contribute data to LEDA. It is
not yet available online.
The LEDA reports application displays information about the current
status of the Traitbase (e.g. number of records per trait, number of
species, etc.) It is not yet on line.
You can only choose the applications you have permission for, after
you registered,
